About Us
Our Story
We know what you are thinking. Why Bear Physio & Performance (BPP)?
Well, there are a few reasons:
One
After having his first child, the founder of Bear Physio & Performance, James Boyd, began to call his little boy Bear. A playful nickname, of which most parents have something for their child. James decided that what better reason than to dedicate his business to his little bear!
Two
Did you know, bears are actually incredible movers? They are strong, competent swimmers, adept climbers, and can run up to speeds of 35mph!
Three
Practitioners at Bear Physio & Performance have developed their practice over the years, moving from solely injury assessment and rehabilitation to being able to aid performance. The performance aspect is vital to success. Motivation can wane after symptoms of an injury subside. However, if the goal is to reach a personal best in a race or simply to be able to walk around the shops more efficiently, we now have a motivator that lasts.

Our Values
At Bear Physio & Performance, we have 3 core values that drive everything we do:
1. CREATING A COMMUNITY
First and foremost, injuries and rehabilitation journeys can be lonely times, which can significantly impact mental well-being as well as physical health. We aim to create a multidisciplinary team who works together to empower an individual to move forward. We also create a community amongst clients, allowing them to share stories and nuggets for success, via platforms such as Facebook groups.
2. BEING PERFORMANCE-FOCUSED AS OPPOSED TO PAIN-FOCUSED
We believe that pain is a short-term motivator, whereas a performance goal will drive an individual toward long-term health and longevity. Whether that goal is reaching a personal best time in a marathon, or simply getting in and out of bed more comfortably, we aim to empower long-term positive outcomes.
3. PROVIDING AN ELITE LEVEL OF CARE
Our practitioners have moulded their craft within elite performance environments such as The English Institute of Sport, The Football Association, The Royal Ballet, England Hockey, and many more, as well as guest lecturing at prestigious institutions such as UCL and Oxford Brookes University.
