WHY SHOULD I USE Bear Physio & Performance?
At Bear Physio & Performance, we pride ourselves on fundamentally being good human beings. We enjoy working with other people who are striving to live a fulfilled life. We take the time to understand your specific goals and needs, and subsequently devise treatment plans specific to you, which not only help to alleviate your pain or symptoms but focus on getting you back to doing the things you want to do. Pain is temporary, but striving towards a specific goal enhances motivation and encourages empowerment.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT Bear Physio & Performance ?
Let’s take our Physiotherapy sessions as an example. Upon initial assessment, you will be asked about your reasons for using physio (i.e. injury, rehab, to become more efficient at a hobby, etc) and what your aims for the treatment will be. You will be asked about your general health and potentially some personal questions regarding your wellbeing. This allows us to fully understand the possible contributing factors to your current situation. All of this information is kept strictly confidential, with no data being shared.
We will then work through a physical assessment, which will primarily focus on how you move in various scenarios (movements specific to your individual needs). Typically we will also assess your range of movement, strength, and various tests which contribute to the understanding of an injury.
Finally, we will discuss and implement a treatment plan that will facilitate positive change in the journey towards your goals. This may involve some movement-based therapy, some hands-on methods, or a referral to another practitioner (such as a consultant).
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Most importantly, we ask that you wear clothing that you are comfortable in. Coming prepared with shorts and a sports bra is ideal, but not essential.
There may be a need to ask for you to remove certain items of clothing in order to observe your posture and identify swelling/bruising better. However, if you do not feel comfortable we will not pressure you to do so. Feeling comfortable in a ‘medicalised’ environment is very important to us at Bear Physio & Performance.
CAN I USE MEDICAL/HEALTH INSURANCE?
Bear Physio & Performance is recognised by most major health insurance companies, inclusive of BUPA, AXA, Aviva, WPA, and many more. If you are registered with a health insurance provider, you will be asked for your membership/policy number and authorisation code for the course of treatments. Please be aware that most policy excesses are paid directly to us.
It is worth noting that massage and sports therapy will not be covered by insurance as standalone sessions, but massage and exercise therapy can be incorporated as part of physiotherapy sessions.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT?
Bear Physio & Performance understand that life needs to be flexible at times and so you are able to cancel your appointment free of charge, as long as you provide a minimum of 24 hours notice. If you do not provide 24 hours notice, or if you do not attend the session, you will be invoiced for the fee of the session.
As the number of service hours are limited, 24 hours allows someone else to book into your slot.
IS Bear Physio & Performance REGISTERED WITH GOVERNING BODIES?
Bear Physio & Performance practitioners are registered with all necessary and relevant governing bodies. For example, all physiotherapists are registered with both the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, as well as the Health & Care Professionals Council.
HOW CAN I PAY FOR EACH SESSION?
If you are self-paying, Bear Physio & Performance accept all major credit/debit cards with no additional charge, as well as cash.
